Antique Latches
value of Antique cigar box?
I found a antique cigar box in the attic.
It is mahogany and has brass hinges and lock/latching device.
Embossed with a half wreath, inside the wreath says “NW” with the word “special” under the wreath.
Also it is says “made exclusively for the the New Willard” I can only assume it is from my great great grandfather who worked in the Willard hotel in Washington dc in the mid 1800’s.
We called the Willard hotel in D.C. and were told they have only seen cardboard boxes that survived this long.
Any Idea how much this is worth or where to take it to find out?
